It seems there are lots of poor reviews for freewheels out there. This one seems quite well made: it feels a lot more "mechanical" and positive in the pall engagement than the original cheapo one that came with my bike. I have had it on for a couple of months now and it still feels sharp and fresh, as I would hope. We'll have to see how it lasts through the winter - that's always the test - but so far so good.

I though DICTA will provide robust and well-made item but this one is an absolute joke. It looks good but doesn't work. As soon as I tried to put too much torque on the chain when starting from traffic light or going uphill, the ratcheting mechanism failed every time and start to behave like a freewheel. Only 2 options, go as slow as you can or walk. Actually my option was to replace it with a £4.50 freewheel from coyote. Does a fantastic job for the last 3 weeks and cost half the price !

I have not ridden with this yet but it screwed onto the wheel nicely and its really shiny chrome and has a reassuring click when rotating anti-clockwise, personally I love that sound. Time will tell if its any good or not but on first inspection all is fine. I have added a little great in the recess on both sides to help protect it from any water ingress, but at this price you can afford to pick one up once every couple of months.
